Does anyone feel embarrassed by having narcolepsy? It use to bother me really bad. I accepted it a few years ago & was able to finally talk about it…now that people see that I’m more active than I use to be & try to depend on me to do things on time is starting to really bother me again
Yes,Jeanne..I feel the same !!
That is true..Have a good friend that you can trust..It is not worth telling everyone...saying I sorry is good...other people have the wrong color hair...ha ha no
I’m not embarrassed when I fall asleep, it’s not my fault. I just explain & I do apologize. I don’t want them to think I don’t care what they have to say
I am not embarrassed when I talk about it before it shows. If I tell people (like professors and new friends) quickly, then I feel better about it when something does happen. I've become very open about it and that's helped me accept it. If my symptoms show and I haven't told those around me yet, I do get a bit embarrassed
Narcolepsy comes in my case with plenty of embarrassment and even shame. When I work and feeling sleepy and dosing off, I have to find a place where I can nap and recover some energy which will last a bit but not much. It is difficult to live w narcolepsy.
