Swallowing makes me think it's related to your Vagus Nerve. I would look into the training and stimulation of this specifically.

I have had a similar difficulty, only I feel like I am going to choke! My mother had severe GERD, and ut would iccur with an unsettling randomness.

I haven't brought it up with ANYONE, because I have just assumed it was occuring to:
too big a bite of food; bring REALLY hungry and eating too fast, etc.

You have gotten me thinking, and I feel that I should bring it up with both my sleep doctor AND my primary care doc. (Plus, I need to start researching this myself, as I often find that doctors may nor be up on all the ins and outs of Narcolepsy...anyone else feel this way?)
