Does Anyone Have Any Advice For Living With Unsupportive People?
A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am currently living with my parents because I can not afford to live on my own. There is no other options for me right now but I just do not know how much longer I can put up with my mom. She never has understood and I don't know if she ever will.

If u haven’t already, see a sleep specialist & take her with you. I encouraged the people around me to watch YouTube videos of people living with narcolepsy so that they can see how serious it really is

I wish!!! Best advice is to try staying positive in your own mind. I know I started having symptoms of NT2 when I was 14-15, I’m now 36. Everyone in my life has put me down and told me I need to get up
and do something and stop being so lazy...it cuts so deep that the people in my life that I love just won’t listen or try to understand...it’s really one of the worst feelings ever...hugs lady I know your pain

Ask Her if She would be willing to go to the Dr. with You. Maybe he/she can explain the situation.

Try having a sleep study done if possible. That should let you know what you are
dealing with and to what degree. Hang in there, We're all in this together.

I wish I had some good advice as well. The best thing I can say is google support groups and join them (if they are in your area or online). You could also start a blog. Talk to Us, .and/ or check out LivingWithNarcolepsy.org, The Narcolepsy Network, and other organizations for support.
