A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

With for the last 5 years I've had all incidents of falling asleep without being wake up. Mostly happens when I'm very stressed out or very angry. I have found myself falling sleep at restaurants ,at my job and at home where nobody can get me to wake up or respond. Is there a thing called stress related narcolepsy? Can some help. I will be going to specialist when I got insurance again. Thanks for your time.

I will be checked out by a neurologist her in the Austin area once I have insurance again. From what I looked up in so medical discussions there is something like this in the lower form. I have never been normal when it comes to sleep so my dr wants my to get checked up. I will keep you updated.

As far as I know there is no stress caused narcolepsy. Stress can cause your sleep to be worse which can impact sleep disorder symptoms though. Narcolepsy though is a REM disorder. Type 1 is caused by low levels of hypocretin and type 2 is still unknown.
