Has Anyone Used A Health Tracker To Monitor Narcolepsy Symptoms?

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Cincinnati, OH

I’m thinking of buying a health tracker to monitor my narcolepsy symptoms, but am not sure if they work for people with narcolepsy. I had been looking specifically at Muse, Oura, and FitBit. Has anyone used any of these successfully?

Members shared mixed experiences using health trackers like Fitbit and Samsung S3 to monitor narcolepsy symptoms, with most finding them helpful primarily for tracking sleep schedules and identifying patterns in sleep stages rather than managing specific narcolepsy symptoms like daytime sleepiness or hallucinations. Several members described using trackers to monitor heart rate when switching medications, correlate symptoms with diet and daily activities through detailed Excel logs, and gain insight into deep sleep and awake time, with one member reporting success by combining CPAP therapy adjustments with strategic medication timing. A recurring theme was the importance of self-advocacy and experimentation when doctors offer limited guidance, with members emphasizing that tracking data and making lifestyle changes like anti-inflammatory diets and improved sleep hygiene can empower individuals to take control of their health even when traditional medical advice falls short.

I have a fitbit but it doesn't really help much in tracking narcolepsy symptoms unless you're just looking for more insight into your sleep every night. I mostly use it to keep me on a stricter sleep schedule

I have a watch that monitors my sleep, oxygen levels, sugar levels, temperature and my blood pressure! Love this! I don’t have a Cpap anymore as the company took it away! I missed some nights wearing it as when I have a migraine, it hurts to wear my mask! So now I have to go back to my sleep doctor, have the test again and find another company to give me another Cpap! Crazy!

I never go a deep sleep! I haven’t responded for awhile! I used a Cpap! They give a new one and fixed it so I get more air! I now do deep sleep most of the night now! I also changed how I take my meds! Most of my meds make you sleepy! So I take two meds that make you sleepy and the rest I take at night! It sure has made a difference in how much awake I am during the day! But I still have to take a nap!!
