Maria & I have been nerding out about the beautiful rocks and crystals we've found (aka: Rockhounding). I hike & rockhound the beach 3-4 times a week. It motivates me to get some exercise and wakes me up in the afternoon when my symptoms are at their highest. Besides Rockhounding, I metal detect and create Bonsai Tree sculptures out of wire and the rocks I find. What's your hobby?
LOL. It's amazing how quickly I could fall asleep if doing laundry is my alternative. Great Tip. Thanks.
This year, I discovered "Deck Gardening"! I spent hours nurturing a host of vegetables and found it a real thrill to finally dig up my onions and potatoes, to say nothi of how wonderful fresh vegetables taste! If you have to still work, any hobby is going to be difficult to work into your life (NOT impossible, but challenging). When you are finally able to avoid the stress and rigors of even working part-time, having a great hobby is a wonderful thing! Pick a passion that you may have secretly harbored and immerse yourself! Until you have that kind of time, I did find help in just reading books at night.
***Long before I had Narcolepsy, my mother taught me that if you can't sleep, don't just lie awake worrying. Get up and do something productive@ I am always amazed at how quickly I get tired doing laundry in the middle of the night, or just emptying the dishwasher and putting things away!
Hi. I’m addicted to drawing lately. I love doing Tangles etc. I love learning how to play the piano on My Simply Piano app,
I love it when the 3rd Sunday of every month gets here because I do rally car racing.
It is so much.
It is the adrenaline that thrills me.
Sometimes I just think of having an “Epipen” shot.
Doesn’t that shoot adrenaline?
I wonder if it would work.
If I’m not engaged to something I really love, I could go to sleep at any minute of any day.
Lucky for hobbies. 🥰
PS - I’m a 48 year old Mum of 3 teenagers. I live in Melbourne, Australia and I really wish this awful feel of sleepiness would piss off. 🤷♀️🥲
Love Naomi.
I wouldn't call that a hobby but definitely an activity worth doing. Sounds very cataplectic. Maybe a hobby that requires you to be laying on the ground...like sidewalk chalk art or a sport like Luge. I can't guarantee that you won't get injured hurtling down a bobsled course but at least people won't question why you are wearing a helmet. On second thought...maybe not Luge. Sidewalk art sounds more meditative which is probably best if extreme emotions tend to be a problem. I'm not cataplectic but I would probably faint if you put me on luge sled.
Your wire Bonsai tree is beautiful, very artistic! I love live Bonsai, but live Bonsai is very expensive and a constant maintenance chore, but yours is permanent and unique.
