This has no connection to Covid unless someone else has their personal experience relating to it.
I was 10? Bad tonsils (something else)? They removed them and I got so sick I had to return to hospital. After lots of tests everyone was freaked out because somehow I had Epstein Barr (Mono - the kissing thing)🤮. Every person that knew me said, “that’s impossible.”

I had a normal sleep study the summer of 2021 in preparation for my gastric sleeve surgery. Got sleeved at the end of September and while recovering I got covid (Delta) the first week of December. By the middle of January I couldn't stay awake in the daytime. Called back the Dr that did the first study and they ended up doing two more night studies and the mslt. Got diagnosed Narcolepsy 2 in April 2022. I also have long covid.
This is interesting. I did have a tonsillectomy when I was little because I was always getting sick. My brother and I both did. He doesn’t have narcolepsy though. Sleep paralysis started when I was 8 or 9. The falling asleep in class, etc., started in high school. I know there's a theory of narcolepsy being triggered by a virus. I also have Sjogren's, which is autoimmune, and sarcoidosis which isn't autoimmune. All this stuff is clear as mud.
Also I would like to add that narcolepsy is beginning to be recognized as an auto immune disorder, so this would make sense of the body attacking our orexin cells in confusion of attacking a virus .
I got it after severe H1N1. Some research points to a severe illness as an activating contributor to the symptomology of narcolepsy.
Never had any surgeries but I was ALWAYS sick with strep throat/ tonsillitis as a kid . I was sick at least 6 to 7 times a school year with strep throat. I’ve read that there may be a connection
