You may want to talk to your doctor and let them know you’re still struggling with brain fog at work when you’re feeling sleepy. They may need to up your dose of the medication or try something in addition. You can also talk to your boss and see if you could either work from home until you have a therapeutic dose where you no longer struggle, or to have different hours to give you extra time to sleep in or work hours that you typically feel better during. I feel the best closer to nighttime personally, so I imagine everyone’s different.

I totally understand your point. I took a 30 min break today at lunch and didn't realize how tired I was I fell asleep laid out on a bench and slept the entire 30 min break and woke up just in time thank God

Hi there! I also have type 2 narcolepsy, when I find myself unmotivated or having trouble thinking straight at work I either go for a walk with a coworker or take a short nap. My naps work the best between 20-40 minutes but it will be different for everyone.

I just had to talk to my employer today about my workplace accommodations, definitely make sure you know your rights when you talk to them about it! We are protected under the American Disabilities Act. They need to make accommodations for us if it’s directly related to our work. They have to have a place for you to nap without interruption, and should be giving you extra leeway on breaks. In lieu of this, my job wants me to work extra hours to make up for time lost. I don’t know how legal that is to ask me for lost time replacement since I’m salaried, but my doctor gave my boss permission to call and talk to him about any questions they have. Just make sure you explain to them what it is you’re going through, the brain fog and inescapable sleepiness, that sort of thing and make sure they are aware of your specific needs and challenges. For example, I can’t always drive into work safely because I’m falling asleep at the wheel multiple times per trip. Once I said that they started to understand a bit more how dangerous it can be.

Good luck, and I hope your workplace understands!
