Possible To Have Insomnia With Narcolepsy???
A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

This past year I have come to realize that I have such a hard time getting myself in that mind frame to “go to bed”. Don’t get me wrong, it takes me only minutes to fall asleep, it’s just a matter of settling down to go to bed. I have tried no caffeine after a certain time, to no cell phone/computer use but I just have a hard time settling down. I have read where insomnia can occur. Does anyone else have this issue and if so, what medications (if any) can help this??? I do plan on talking to my… read more

My mind resists going to bed. I usually am up until 1 or later. It seems silly, just go to bed, but I resist consciously or not or or get downright panicky if I have had a really bad dream the night before. I am relieved once I get into bed, like I have won a battle. I am sure it is from 69 years of bad dreams. My mind knows they are coming and doesn't want to go there!

Yes I was that way. You just have to force yourself to lay down. I lay down now when I put my daughter to bed and we listen to a meditation every night as we fall asleep. Neither of us makes it more than 3 minutes most nights. I also have an eye mask to block out light. My suggestion is try that and see if it helps.

This happens to me as well. Sometimes I'm up all night. I've found that if I really want to sleep the concentrated breathing technique works or just taking an aspirin or Tylenol will help.

I too have hard time settling down to sleep. Caught myself having a glass of wine then 2. Stopped that but suffer from insomnia most nights,, causing me to be a basket case most of the next day.

Hi. It is possible to have insomnia during night time when you are suppose to sleep in contrast with the sleep attacks during day time.
I use Trazadone as Stillnox and other sleeping medication didn't work for me anymore. I still have fragmented sleep some nights but it is better than nothing.
I hope you get meds that work for you.
Regards
Marisa
