Before The Internet....

Did anyone else start experiencing sleep paralysis before the internet? What did you think was happening? How long was it before you told anyone and how much longer till you spoke to a doctor about it?

I just turned 53 years old and I've had sleep paralysis since I was about 10 or 11. I would have reoccurring nap nightmares of Frankenstein chasing me. About 10 years ago I started having reoccurring nap nightmares of my friend sitting next to me in an airplane and watching him jump out to his death. 5 years ago I went to work and started falling asleep standing up at my press and went to the doctor. They sent me to a sleep doctor and as soon as I told her about my nap nightmares I was diagnosed with narcolepsy. Sleep paralysis is absolutely frightening and exhausting. My doctor told me that those nap nightmares where a dead giveaway of narcolepsy.
