I have hàd sleep studies, but I was told afterwards that I didn't need the machine reason being I don't stop breathing when I'm asleep.

I just found out in August that I have sleep apnea along with my tyoe 1 narcolepsy. The machine i guess has reduced the severity of the cataplexy spells and I don't get them as bad but I can still say I get them daily just not as noticeable for others

I had an at home sleep study and then the overnight sleep study with polysomnogram and MSLT and sleep apnea was ruled out completely for me on both tests. My doc won't treat for narcolepsy if you have apnea until you've used the CPAP and still meet the requirements for narcolepsy on the polysomnogram and MSLT with the CPAP.

Thank you for sharing this. I recently did the home test for sleep apnea. The dr said i have it. Im scheduled to get a machine but I have to pay $390 up front and I've been hesitant because I'm not sure it will help. Your story had me rethinking.
