I take adderall, and I was told there was a shortage also. My mother wasn’t able to get it, but a couple weeks later when I had to fill mine, it was filled. I’m not sure what’s going on. I’ve never taken Ritalin. Sorry that happened to you. That really sucks. I would definitely call your doctor and tell him/her that it’s not working. Not sure what else you can do.

Have you asked if generic and brand name are both out of stock? Short and long acting? A year or so when I went through this they actually had brand name in so my dr. had to send in a new script for that and get prior authorization from my insurance company. For the few days I had to wait for the XR he sent in a script for the immediate release to tide me over, which was in stock.

Ritalin sucked for me! I had to take drug holidays on the weekends so the medication would work m-f. Otherwise, I would build up a tolerence and then I would need more to acheive that same level of wakefulness the next week. Spending the weekend sleeping sucked. Plus It made me cranky. Adderall works much better for me. I get what your saying..I had my regular pharmacy run out. So I switched Costco. I took a month to get it. When I went to the pharmacy they said it is on a first come first serve. I was lucky that they were able to give me 1/2 of the Rx .. but I have to go back to my doctor and get a new Rx. Rite Aid won't tell me if they have it instock without having the script first. So you can't just go and find a pharmacy that has some instock. It makes me feel like I will be judged If I try calling different places to see if another may have it. It just sucks.

I take adderall IR and fortunately my pharmacy hasn't had a problem getting it. My doctor initially had me on Ritalin but that was a bad med for me, so I hope I don't run into supply problems with adderall. I have noticed a difference in generic brands since Teva stopped making it though, and I ask specifically for Alvogen generic. Lately it seems though that it's not doing much either.
