When my narcolepsy kicks in for me it sort of feels chemically induced as if I’ve taken a hand full of Ambien vs not sleeping for a few days. It’s almost like I get this slight feeling down the back of my neck, it’s hard to describe. Does anyone else get this as well?? BTW I don’t have cataplexy, not sure if it makes a difference. Please let me know if you know what I’m talking about and can describe it in your words.
I know what you mean, I don't have cataplexy either. Every time I'd wake up I felt like I hadn't slept for a couple days- that was the good part of the day. Then about 10-11am I would feel this really intense fatigue suddenly wash over me- like walking through a doorway into somewhere else. I'd then be incredibly clumsy, drop things, walk into walls, it was hard to concentrate on anything, especially conversation, had zero sense of humor, (lots of family pictures of me- not a smile in 'em) easily annoyed, lose my temper, energy was bottomed out- and all I wanted to do was lay down and sleep as that's what my brain was screaming. (Figure of speech) I never fell asleep suddenly, but would, say, pull off the road while driving & snooze. Fell asleep in some pretty odd places...
I know just what you mean.
Same with me. It’s because we lack sufficient creatine in our brains. Creatine is what regulates our sleep; not having enough creatine means that we don’t get into deep sleep, and the result is feeling as sleepy as someone who has not slept for 2 days! Right now, I’m on a drug, called Xyrem, which gets me into that deep sleep which is so restorative. Ask your doctor to look into it because they have recently come up with a generic equivalent, called Zywav, which is much cheaper.
It surely does!
Yes
Absolutely, totally, understand!
