Yes, I take 50 mg of Adderall daily to combat fatigue. Instant release, chopped up into pieces works best for me. This is not a perfect solution, but it improves my quality of life tremendously! Work with your doctor to find the most effective dosage for your situation. 🩷🧡

Hello! I take 80mg a day. 10mg quick in the morning as soon as I wake up, 30mg slow around 8/9am, 30mg slow around 2pm and another 10mg around 4/5pm. It does help but only if you don’t sit or lay down at all. You have to start doing something right away or it will do the opposite.

Adderall (an amphetamine) is one of the stimulant medications that can be prescribed for narcolepsy type 2 to help manage excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS). It works by increasing nervous system activity to help you stay awake and alert.
Many MyNarcolepsyTeam members have shared experiences with stimulant medications, and results can vary quite a bit from person to person. Finding the right medication — or combination of medications — often takes some trial and error with your doctor. Other medication options your doctor might consider alongside or instead of amphetamines include:
- Modafinil — a wakefulness-promoting stimulant
- Sodium oxybate — helps improve nighttime sleep quality, leading to better daytime alertness
- Pitolisant — boosts histamine in the brain to promote wakefulness
- Solriamfetol — regulates neurotransmitters tied to the sleep-wake cycle
Up to 85% of people with narcolepsy and EDS see symptom improvement with medication, which is encouraging!
It's always worth discussing your specific response to Adderall openly with your doctor, especially if symptoms aren't fully controlled, as adjustments or combinations may help.
