I have a teenager with narcolepsy who is really struggling. He has had averse reactions to medications and has a hopeless attitude. I can see how much he is struggling and suffering. When I try to help him and make suggestions, he gets angry with me and frustrated. He has a lot of supports in place but he is in the worst place right now. How do I support him and support myself at the same time? It is so hard to be a mother and feel this helpless.
It sounds like he is suffering from depression also. That needs to addressed so he can feel better. Depression makes you tired during the day also complicating narcolepsy.
I have read many stories online of people doing well on Nuvigil for awhile, but then as time goes on having to add a "booster" medication halfway through the day. I want to know if I should expect this, or not. Has anyone been on Nuvigil for a long time with no decrease in effectiveness? Some sources also suggest taking a couple days off the medicine to curb resistance. Has anyone had experience with that?
I have been taking adderal for a good 15 years. The highest does and is not helping. I took adderal originally for adhd. But it doesn’t seem to work anymore. Do you have any suggestions?
Provigil to stay awake during daytime, but doesn't help with concentration and focus.
Three months in a row I have struggled to get my Nuvigil 200mg (60 count) rx. CVS always has it on backorder, and now my new pharmacy took 5 days to get my meds. I work full time, so I make a lot of mistakes when I am unmedicated.
Anyone with CVS caremark? What is a less stressful way to get your meds on time?
Idk if it's my state... PA only allows 2 days before the rx is out, and no auto refills. I can't keep going through this, and I know I'm not alone. :(
Has anybody else experienced issues passing out after eating? Or issues after eating a high-carb meal?
It works the only problem with that is that in the long run you could get stomach ulcers or Gastritis. Of course this takes alot of years of doing that to have consequences. I use to fast alot all day… read more
I'm on Adderall for most of my life. It helps me.
Does anyone go thru several days of mostly just sleeping?
I put all the details in my answer about hormones and narcolepsy. Because of the combo of N + PMDD, I would sleep about 16 hours each day 2 days, before my cycle started. (Summarized).
Hi everyone 👋🏻 Wondering if anyone else here has type 2 narc? (Narcolepsy without cataplexy) I’ve tried researching it but even less is known about type 2 than 1. Just going through the motions..
I was told I have narcolepsy from a doctor but never had the sleep test to see what kind I have!
I have recently been diagnosed with narcolepsy without cataplexy. I'm on Adderall 30 mg 3x daily. I've noticed if I don't get a good 10-12 hours of sleep, my Adderall won't work as well. I still have severe brain fog, embarrassingly amounts! I have nightmares so realistic I have to go check on my family. My doctor said he doesn't want me on either med typical for narcolepsy as it can cause Steven's Johnson syndrome. What can help with this? Medicine or otherwise. Thank you

Every afternoon I go through this period of feeling like my brain isn't working right. I'm aware of all my surroundings, but feel completely focused. It's so hard to explain. Even the inside of my head feels different. Almost like out of body experiences. When that happens I'm not able to function well. I continuesly fall asleep. I just can't talk either, cause I don't remember what were taking about and all of a sudden I start talking about something way off the subject at hand. This has been… read more
