I’ve always been a bit scatterbrained, but lately it’s getting worse, and it’s even starting to affect my marriage. My husband says it’s like having a third child, and we fight nearly every day about something that I have forgotten to do. I don’t know if it’s due to narcolepsy, my medication, or something else

Members strongly validated the experience of forgetfulness and absentmindedness linked to narcolepsy, explaining that when the brain is constantly sleepy it struggles to absorb and retain information, making memory issues a core part of the disorder rather than a personal failing. Several members shared practical coping strategies including keeping multiple lists, using phone calendars and notepads, taking photos as visual reminders, and asking doctors about medications like Ritalin that helped some members regain mental clarity. A recurring theme was the importance of partners understanding that memory struggles are a symptom of the condition, not immaturity, with many members emphasizing the need for grace, patience, and shared responsibility in relationships when navigating the real cognitive effects of narcolepsy.

It is the Narcolepsy.... it does effect your memory alot. I have to write everything down. However your husband needs to realize that this is a big part of this disorder and give you some grace. I am married and my husband knows that he has to be the one to keep track of all the info in our family. I do my best but it isnt always there. You are not alone!

I have list after list or I forget everything. When Your Brain is sleepy it doesn't absorb information. That is why a lot of people w/Narcolepsy have memory issues. I take pictures all the time otherwise I won't remember it.

Cutting carbs and sugar really helps with my brain fog. I have it too with perimenopause. But after 3 days keto, my mind is super sharp!
